Fill your home with the golden glow of a Victorian Christmas with the Tinsel Gilded Foil Transfer by Iron Orchid Designs. Eight 12" × 16" sheets of pure gold foil — herald angels, holly and pine botanicals, blank gift label frames, full period sheet music, devotional calligraphy, and a sweeping Christmas word collage — all rendered in a warm gold-to-amber gradient that shimmers like candlelight on painted furniture, trays, frames, and canvas.

Tinsel is the most spiritually resonant of the IOD gilded collections, drawing from Victorian carol books, period calligraphy, and the imagery of the Nativity. Apply the full O Holy Night calligraphy sheet to a large cabinet door for a statement piece that stops every visitor in their tracks. Scatter the herald angel across a gallery wall. Fill the blank gift label frames with handwritten names in chalk marker. Layer the holly botanicals with the Petits Ornements frames for a fully gilded holiday composition.

(No. XIV) in Gothic blackletter title with full treble and bass clef notation, three verses, and chorus including “This, this is Christ the King; Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing: Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Ma-ry”; warm gold-to-amber gradient
  • Sheet 5 — O Holy Night (Calligraphy): full-page gold foil calligraphy of O Holy Night in expressive mixed-script lettering — large display script for “O holy night, the Stars are brightly shining, it is the night of our dear Savior’s birth” above a full cursive transcription of Luke 2:9–14 — “An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them… Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” — attributed Luke 2:9–14; warm gold-to-amber gradient

  • All gold foil with warm gold-to-amber gradient
  • Mix of cut-apart vignettes (angels, botanicals, frames) and full-sheet compositions (sheet music, calligraphy, word collage)
  • Bonus: spent sheets can be reused with gold leaf adhesive size to apply the negative design

How to Apply Gilded Transfers

  1. Seal painted or porous surfaces with a satin or semi-gloss sealer and allow to dry thoroughly before applying.
  2. Carefully select and cut out your transfer pieces, keeping the protective backing with the transfer.
  3. Hovering over the surface, position the transfer piece where you want to apply it.
  4. Put the transfer in place (optionally secure corners with small piece of low grip tape).
  5. Using the provided tool, start in one corner and rub with firm, even pressure to adhere the transfer. Continue across the design until fully adhered.
  6. Remove the sheet and smooth down any loose areas with a clean, dry hand. Burnish firmly to ensure maximum adhesion.
  7. Seal with two topcoats of a water-based sealer to enhance durability.

Bonus technique: After use, do not discard spent sheets. Apply gold leaf adhesive size to your project surface, allow to become tacky (not wet), then apply the spent sheet and burnish to transfer the negative design in gold.

Tips for Best Results

  • Take extra care to keep the transfer with the protective backing until you are ready to apply.
  • Keep free of dust or debris, which will interfere with adhesion.
  • Surface should be clean, dry, fully cured, and sealed before applying.
  • If using chalky or mineral-based paint, seal with a water-based polyurethane finish prior to applying.
  • Avoid solvent-based topcoats, which can adversely affect the bond.
  • Not intended for outdoor use or constant direct sunlight.
