You are cordially invited to the most distinguished gathering in the IOD mould range. The Invitation Only Decor Mould by Iron Orchid Designs features four impeccably dressed anthropomorphic animal gentlemen - a cat, a stag, a lion, and a dog - each rendered as a formal portrait bust on a classical pedestal, wearing a top hat or bowler, a tailored jacket with lapels, and a bow tie. The sculptural detail is extraordinary: every whisker, every fur texture, every jacket button, every bow tie knot is individually sculpted in deep, portrait-quality relief.

These are not decorative motifs - they are portraits. The cat's knowing expression, the stag's aristocratic bearing with his full antler crown, the lion's magnificent mane framing a dignified face, the dog's jowly good humour - each one has a distinct personality that transforms any painted piece into a talking point. Apply them to a gentleman's study cabinet, a bar cart, a bookcase, or a set of drawers for a result that is simultaneously sophisticated and delightfully absurd. Micro-Rims and Measure Marks are built into the mould.

  • Use on a decorative box or keepsake chest for a distinguished Victorian cabinet of curiosities effect
  • Combine with Frames mould rectangular frames applied around each bust for a full framed portrait gallery effect
  • Paint in antique white and finish with raw umber dry-brush for a genuine carved plaster portrait bust finish

How to Use

  1. Press your chosen medium firmly into the mould, working from the center outward to eliminate air pockets in the face, fur, and jacket detail.
  2. Smooth the back flat with a palette knife or your finger.
  3. Allow to set or cure fully according to your medium's instructions.
  4. Flex the silicone mould gently to release the cast bust.
  5. Adhere to your surface using strong craft adhesive or gel medium.
  6. Once dry, paint, dry-brush, or wax over the casting to finish.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use the Measure Marks on the mould to measure your medium before pressing.
  • For the Stag: press medium very firmly into the antler tine cavities - these are the finest elements; allow to cure fully before releasing to avoid breakage of the antler tips.
  • For the Lion: press medium firmly into all mane curl cavities - the mane is the deepest area and requires firm, even pressure.
  • For the Cat and Dog: press medium carefully into the whisker and facial wrinkle detail for the full character expression.
  • For IOD Decor Mousse: press firmly, scrape the back flat, and allow to air-dry in the mould for 15-20 minutes before releasing - these are large, deep portrait elements.
  • Portrait bust finish: paint in antique white or warm stone, apply raw umber thinned with water into the fur and jacket recesses, wipe back the high points for a carved plaster effect.
  • Prime cast pieces before painting for best paint adhesion.
