Command attention with the Heraldry Decor Mould by Iron Orchid Designs — a regal collection of heraldic and romantic ornaments drawn from the vocabulary of European coats of arms, royal insignia, and Victorian jewellery. A Baroque heraldic shield cartouche, a rose-and-acanthus crown, a beaded heart with flame finial, a rose oval cameo, and sweeping acanthus scroll ornaments compose a complete heraldic scheme that transforms any painted piece into a statement of aristocratic grandeur.
The centrepiece is the Baroque heraldic shield cartouche — a shaped shield with a blank smooth interior surrounded by dense acanthus C-scroll ornaments, a ribbon banner crest, and foliate base. The blank shield interior is a perfect canvas for a painted monogram, a gilded transfer initial, or a handwritten family motto. The rose crown is equally extraordinary — a full tiara form with three acanthus-and-rose finials, detailed rope-twist band, and the kind of sculptural depth that reads like genuine carved ivory from across the room. The beaded heart with its dotted texture and flame-and-crown finial is a romantic accent that works equally well on a jewellery box, a headboard, or a cabinet door.
Mould Elements
- Baroque Heraldic Shield Cartouche — shaped heraldic shield with blank smooth interior, dense acanthus C-scroll surround, ribbon banner crest, and foliate scroll base — ideal as a centrepiece or monogram panel
- Rose Crown / Tiara — full crown form with three acanthus-and-rose finials, detailed rope-twist band, and rose cluster centre — a statement piece on its own
- Beaded Heart with Flame-and-Crown Finial — large heart with beaded rope border, dotted texture interior, and flame-and-crown finial at top
- Rose Oval Cameo — large oval with rope-twist border, full-blown rose on stem with leaves — a botanical cameo medallion
- Large Acanthus Scroll Ornament (Left) — large sweeping Baroque acanthus C-scroll, partially visible in casting images — use as a flanking or corner ornament
- Large Acanthus Scroll Ornament (Right) — mirror of above
- Additional heraldic accent elements — refer to your mould sheet for the complete element list
Note: media quantity guides may be printed on the mould sheet — refer to your mould for exact ml/g measurements per element.
Design Applications
- Apply the heraldic shield cartouche to a cabinet door centre and paint or gild a monogram or family initial inside the blank shield interior
- Use the rose crown as a pediment ornament above a mirror frame, headboard, or wardrobe for an instant regal statement
- Apply the beaded heart as a romantic centrepiece on a jewellery box, keepsake box, or small cabinet door
- Combine the rose oval cameo with the Cameos mould portrait ovals for a full mixed cameo gallery
- Use the acanthus scroll pair flanking the shield cartouche for a complete heraldic panel composition
- Paint in antique white and finish with gold wax for a gilded heraldic finish worthy of a stately home
How to Use
- Press your chosen medium firmly into the mould, working from the center outward to eliminate air pockets in the scroll and crown detail.
- Smooth the back flat with a palette knife or your finger.
- Allow to set or cure fully according to your medium's instructions.
- Flex the silicone mould gently to release the cast ornament.
- Adhere to your surface using strong craft adhesive or gel medium.
- Once dry, paint, gild, dry-brush, or wax over the ornament to integrate it with your piece.
Tips for Best Results
- For the heraldic shield: press medium firmly into all acanthus scroll cavities around the shield surround — the scroll detail is deep and requires firm, even pressure.
- For the rose crown: press medium carefully into the rose centre and acanthus finial cavities to capture the full sculptural detail.
- For the beaded heart: press medium firmly into the beaded border cavities and the dotted texture interior.
- Lightly mist the mould with water before pressing in air-dry clay to prevent sticking.
- For IOD Decor Mousse: press firmly, scrape the back flat, and allow to air-dry in the mould for 15 minutes before releasing.
- Gilded heraldic finish: paint in antique white, allow to dry fully, then apply gold wax to the high points only — leave the recesses dark for maximum contrast and depth.
- Prime cast pieces before painting for best paint adhesion.
