Bring the abundance of a Mediterranean vineyard to your painted furniture and decor with the Grapes Decor Mould by Iron Orchid Designs. Nine elements spanning an extraordinary size range — from a massive 49ml/74g large grape cluster down to a tiny 0.4ml/0.6g single grape accent — all sculpted with the full, rounded depth of genuine carved stone relief. Every individual grape is a perfect sphere in deep relief; every vine leaf shows full vein and lobe detail; every tendril curl is a delicate spiral. The result, when applied to a painted surface, is indistinguishable from genuine architectural plasterwork.
The Grapes mould is one of the most sculpturally dramatic in the IOD range. The large grape cluster at 49ml/74g is among the deepest and most voluminous single elements available — the individual grapes project so far from the surface that they cast genuine shadows at different times of day, creating a living, changing composition. Compose a full vineyard harvest scene across a large cabinet door, use the medium cluster and vine leaves as a standalone composition on a tray or headboard, or scatter individual grapes and tendrils as accent elements across a frame or set of drawers. Media quantity guides are printed directly on the mould sheet for every element.

Design Applications
- Compose a full vineyard harvest scene: large cluster centre, medium cluster flanking, vine leaves above, small clusters and tendrils scattered around — a complete still-life panel for a large cabinet door or wine cabinet
- Apply the large cluster and vine leaves as a standalone composition on a large tray, serving board, or headboard panel
- Use the medium cluster and small vine leaf as a repeating motif across a set of kitchen drawers or a dining room sideboard
- Scatter single grapes and tendril curls as accent elements across a frame, mirror, or set of drawer pulls
- Combine with IOD botanical transfers for a layered harvest still-life mixing cast relief grapes with flat transfer botanicals
- Paint in deep purple, dusty sage, or antique cream and finish with raw umber dry-brush for a Tuscan fresco palette
How to Use
- Press your chosen medium firmly into the mould, working from the center outward to eliminate air pockets between the individual grape spheres.
- Smooth the back flat with a palette knife or your finger.
- Allow to set or cure fully according to your medium's instructions.
- Flex the silicone mould gently to release the cast ornament.
- Adhere to your surface using strong craft adhesive or gel medium.
- Once dry, paint, gild, dry-brush, or wax over the ornament to integrate it with your piece.
Tips for Best Results
- Use the media quantity guides on the mould to measure your medium before pressing — the large cluster at 49ml/74g requires significant medium volume; measure carefully to avoid running short mid-press.
- For the large grape cluster: press medium firmly into every individual grape cavity — air pockets between the spheres are the most common issue with this element. Work slowly and press firmly.
- For the vine tendril curl: this is a very fine element — press medium carefully and allow to cure fully before releasing to avoid breakage.
- Lightly mist the mould with water before pressing in air-dry clay to prevent sticking.
- For IOD Decor Mousse: press firmly, scrape the back flat, and allow to air-dry in the mould for 20 minutes before releasing the large cluster — longer than smaller elements due to depth.
- Dry-brush with raw umber or purple-toned wax over cream paint to bring out the individual grape sphere detail beautifully.
- Prime cast pieces before painting for best paint adhesion.
