Go large with the Frames 2 Decor Mould by Iron Orchid Designs — the most dramatic frame mould in the IOD range. Two statement-scale frame elements, each one a full architectural composition in its own right, requiring more medium than any other IOD mould element. These are not accent pieces — they are the centrepiece of any painted furniture project, commanding an entire cabinet door, wardrobe panel, or large tray on their own.

The large Baroque square frame (84ml/126g) is the largest single casting element in the IOD mould range — a full stepped-moulding square frame with dense beaded inner border, sweeping Baroque acanthus C-scroll corner ornaments, and small floral accent clusters at each corner. The Rococo cartouche frame (51ml/75g) is equally extraordinary — a shaped cartouche frame with a cherub-and-shell crest, cascading rose garland sides, and a shell-and-acanthus base, its outline following the organic curves of the ornament rather than a geometric rectangle. Both frames have smooth blank interiors ready to be painted, gilded, or layered with IOD transfers.

Design Applications

• Apply the large Baroque square frame to fill an entire cabinet door panel — the most impactful single-element application in the IOD mould range
• Use the Rococo cartouche frame as a statement centrepiece on a large wardrobe door, headboard, or oversized tray
• Apply Petits Ornements gilded foil transfers inside the blank frame interiors for a fully dimensional gilded frame effect
• Apply a Cameos portrait transfer inside the Rococo cartouche for a fully dimensional portrait medallion
• Combine with Angelic Tapers or Christmas Tapers flanking each side for a full architectural panel composition
• Paint in antique white and dry-brush with gold wax for a classic gilded plasterwork finish

How to Use

1. Press your chosen medium firmly into the mould, working from the center outward to eliminate air pockets in the frame border and corner ornament detail.
2. Smooth the back flat with a palette knife or your finger.
3. Allow to set or cure fully according to your medium's instructions.
4. Flex the silicone mould gently to release the cast frame.
5. Adhere to your surface using strong craft adhesive or gel medium.
6. Once dry, paint, gild, dry-brush, or wax over the frame to integrate it with your piece.

Tips for Best Results

• Use the Measure Marks on the mould — at 84ml/126g and 51ml/75g, these are the most media-intensive elements in the IOD range; measure carefully to avoid running short mid-press.
• For both frames: press medium in sections across the full frame and smooth joins carefully before the medium sets.
• Press medium firmly into all acanthus scroll, beaded border, and corner ornament cavities to capture the full relief detail.
• Lightly mist the mould with water before pressing in air-dry clay to prevent sticking.
• For IOD Decor Mousse: press firmly, scrape the back flat, and allow to air-dry in the mould for 20-25 minutes before releasing — significantly longer than smaller elements due to the exceptional depth and volume.
• The smooth blank frame interiors can be painted, stamped, or have IOD transfers applied after casting and painting.
• Prime cast pieces before painting for best paint adhesion.
