The quintessential French country mould — the Fleur de Lis Decor Mould by Iron Orchid Designs brings together the full vocabulary of French provincial decoration in one versatile set. Sixteen elements: the iconic fleur-de-lis in two sizes, a running hare, a proud rooster, beaded hearts in three sizes, oak leaf sprigs, artichoke finials, a thistle fan, and a small fleur-de-lis bow — all the symbols of the French countryside rendered in crisp, deep relief.

This is one of the original IOD Decor Moulds from the Summer 2018 collection and remains one of the most beloved in the range for its breadth of French country imagery. The large fleur-de-lis is a statement piece on its own — apply it to a cabinet door centre, a mirror frame pediment, or a large tray for an instantly recognisable French provincial accent. The running hare and rooster are perennial favourites for kitchen furniture and farmhouse decor. The beaded hearts in three sizes are endlessly versatile as standalone accents, drawer pulls, or layered compositions.

Design Applications

• Apply the large fleur-de-lis as a pediment ornament above a cabinet door or as a centrepiece on a large tray or mirror frame
• Use the running hare and rooster as a paired composition on a kitchen dresser or farmhouse cabinet
• Apply beaded hearts in graduating sizes across a set of drawers for a romantic French country accent
• Use the artichoke finials as corner ornaments on a cabinet or as standalone decorative objects on a shelf
• Combine the oak leaf sprigs with the Chanticleer rooster mould for a full French farmhouse composition
• Paint in terracotta, sage green, or warm cream and finish with raw umber dry-brush for a classic French provincial palette

How to Use

1. Press your chosen medium firmly into the mould, working from the center outward to eliminate air pockets.
2. Smooth the back flat with a palette knife or your finger.
3. Allow to set or cure fully according to your medium's instructions.
4. Flex the silicone mould gently to release the cast ornament.
5. Adhere to your surface using strong craft adhesive or gel medium.
6. Once dry, paint, gild, dry-brush, or wax over the ornament to integrate it with your piece.

Tips for Best Results

• Lightly mist the mould with water before pressing in air-dry clay to prevent sticking.
• For IOD Decor Mousse: press firmly, scrape the back flat, and allow to air-dry in the mould for 10-15 minutes before releasing.
• For the running hare: press medium firmly into the ear and leg detail to capture the full fur texture.
• Dry-brush with raw umber or gold wax over cream paint to bring out the artichoke scale and heart bead detail beautifully.
• Prime cast pieces before painting for best paint adhesion.
