Crackle by Dixie Belle is a specialty medium that creates a stunning aged, cracked paint effect — adding instant vintage character and rustic charm to furniture, home décor, and accent pieces. Simply apply Crackle between two coats of paint and watch the magic happen as the topcoat splits and cracks to reveal the base color beneath, mimicking the look of naturally aged and weathered paint.

The size and pattern of the cracks can be controlled by the thickness of your Crackle application — thin layers create fine, delicate crackles while thicker layers produce bold, dramatic splits. Experiment with contrasting base and topcoat colors for maximum visual impact.

How to Use

Apply your base coat color and allow to dry completely. Brush on a layer of Crackle and allow to become tacky but not fully dry (15–30 minutes). Apply your topcoat color in one direction without overworking. As the topcoat dries, cracks will form to reveal the base color. Seal with your preferred Dixie Belle topcoat once fully dry.
