The essential Baroque toolkit — the Classic Elements Decor Mould by Iron Orchid Designs is the foundational ornament set that works with everything. Nine versatile elements drawn from the full vocabulary of Baroque and Rococo architectural decoration: C-scrolls, S-scrolls, a fleur-de-lis crown cartouche, a scallop shell, a square rosette tile, a beaded border strip, and a small acanthus fan — all the building blocks you need to compose any classical ornamental scheme on any painted surface.

Unlike themed moulds, Classic Elements is a pure vocabulary set. Use the mirrored C-scroll pair to frame a cabinet panel. Apply the scallop shell as a pediment ornament above a door. Run the beaded border strip along a shelf edge or drawer front. Combine the fleur-de-lis crown cartouche with a Petits Ornements oval frame for a fully composed heraldic medallion. These are the elements that professional decorative painters reach for again and again — now available in easy-release silicone for any skill level.

Mould Elements

  • Square Rosette / Sunburst Tile — square panel with central sunburst rosette and foliate corner detail, ideal as a corner block or centrepiece tile
  • Vertical Beaded Border Strip — long narrow strip with repeating beaded dot and small flower motif, ideal as a border, edge trim, or divider
  • Large Rococo C-Scroll with Roses (Left) — large sweeping C-scroll with acanthus leaf detail and climbing rose and bud cluster at the junction
  • Large Rococo C-Scroll with Roses (Right) — mirror of above — use as a matched pair flanking a panel or door
  • Fleur-de-Lis Crown Cartouche — central Baroque cartouche with fleur-de-lis finial, acanthus scroll base, and symmetrical foliate scroll arms — ideal as a centrepiece or pediment ornament
  • Scallop Shell — classic Baroque scallop shell with radiating ribs, ideal as a pediment, corner, or standalone accent
  • Large Acanthus S-Scroll — large flowing S-curve acanthus scroll, ideal as a connecting element or standalone ornament
  • Small Acanthus Fan / Plume — compact upright acanthus fan or plume, ideal as a small accent or filler element
  • Small Rococo C-Scroll — small acanthus C-scroll, ideal as a corner accent or repeating border element

Note: this is an earlier IOD mould and may not include Measure Marks on the mould sheet. Refer to your mould for any quantity guides printed on the sheet.

Design Applications

  • Use the mirrored C-scroll pair flanking a cabinet door panel or mirror frame for a classic Baroque composition
  • Apply the fleur-de-lis crown cartouche as a pediment ornament above a cabinet door or as a centrepiece on a headboard
  • Run the beaded border strip along a shelf edge, drawer front, or frame as a repeating trim element
  • Apply the scallop shell above a door panel or at the top of a mirror frame as a classical pediment
  • Combine with Petits Ornements oval frames — place the fleur-de-lis cartouche above a gilded oval frame for a fully composed heraldic medallion
  • Use the square rosette tile as a corner block where two border strips meet

How to Use

  1. Press your chosen medium firmly into the mould, working from the center outward to eliminate air pockets.
  2. Smooth the back flat with a palette knife or your finger.
  3. Allow to set or cure fully according to your medium's instructions.
  4. Flex the silicone mould gently to release the cast ornament.
  5. Adhere to your surface using strong craft adhesive or gel medium.
  6. Once dry, paint, gild, dry-brush, or wax over the ornament to integrate it with your piece.

Tips for Best Results

  • Lightly mist the mould with water before pressing in air-dry clay to prevent sticking.
  • For IOD Decor Mousse: press firmly, scrape the back flat, and allow to air-dry in the mould for 10-15 minutes before releasing.
  • The beaded border strip can be cast multiple times and joined end-to-end for longer runs — smooth the join with a damp finger before the medium sets.
  • Dry-brush with gold or silver wax over white paint to bring out the scroll and shell detail beautifully.
  • Prime cast pieces before painting for best paint adhesion.
